About Me

Hi! I’m Julie, and I am a pastor’s wife and mother of five.  After two years as a school social worker, I “retired” to stay home with my baby. Rather than return to work outside the home, I chose to be a housewife and homeschool my children. My family and I currently live in our church’s parsonage in Northwestern Wisconsin. Though being born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, I feel like this cold, snowy, rural life fits just right. I’m passionate about my faith, the Church, being a housewife, homeschooling, cultural issues, politics, marriage, and raising children. Yes, I’m the person who has to tape her mouth shut at holiday gatherings in order to avoid becoming the dinner conversation pariah!

I decided to write for a few reasons:

1. I’ve always enjoyed it, and I wanted to allow myself a space to write that went beyond grocery lists.

2. My husband. There are days I practically assault him with words. No, I’m not being cruel or hurtful. I’m just using all the words at him. All. The. Words. So, this blog is to spare him a little bit of that.

3. Mostly, I’m heartsick over this world and the state of American Christianity. Voices that speak for truth seem few and far between. I’m not perfect, and I don’t see myself as better than others. However, I do feel strongly convicted to share what God lays on my heart about issues that matter (or should matter) to Christian women.
